Obedience and Behavior Solutions

ABOUT

It is our belief that the perfect companion dog doesn't need to check all the boxes in a cookie cutter training routine. Our clients all have very different personalities, lives, and needs. Your dogs also have very different personalities and needs.

Because of this, we take the time to get to know you, your family, and your dog on a personal level to create a custom-tailored routine just for you. While we believe in balanced training and responsibly utilizing a wide variety of training tools and methods to accomplish training goals, we are sensitive to our clients’ comfort level with said tools and methods. It is our goal to educate you on the pros and cons of every avenue of approach and then we tailor our training routine to best suit the handler-dog pair. We strive to increase your knowledge of dog behavior, wellness, and how to communicate clearly with your dog. This, in turn, will help you strengthen your bond with your dog. The overall result is eliminating troublesome behavior that disrupts peaceful homes and damages the human-dog relationship.

Our clients trust us to diagnose and correct serious issues in their dogs. We have seen the worst of the worst, and empathize with pet owners who feel they have no other options. Maybe their family, friends, neighbors, vet, or even a different trainer suggested re-homing or euthanasia. Let us give you a second opinion. We train in your home and encourage our clients to be actively engaged in training. We want our clients to witness their dogs' behavior transformation every step of the way. We help dogs find their confidence, encourage spirit, and encourage them to practice healthy alternatives to reported behavior problems. Not only will the dog learn how to be the model companion, but YOU will learn how to be the model dog owner and handler. We strive to be a part of your family and offer round the clock support and guidance. We often engage our colleagues in the veterinary, grooming, and daycare field to assist you in all aspects of your pet's life.

Lastly, we fully support both the rescue community as well as ethical show dog and working dog breeders. If you ever find yourself adding a new companion to your home, consider consulting with us for guidance on choosing the right dog for you. We often rescue and foster dogs with behavior problems, rehabilitate them, then place them in experienced homes who will maintain the structure they learned from us.

If any of this resonates with you, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Getting pet owners the help they need is extremely important to us. If we feel we are not the best fit for your needs, we will gladly point you in the right direction as we are acquainted with countless other trainers with valuable and specialized skill sets that can help you achieve your goals.

Owner/Operator, Lead Trainer, Dip.CBST, Aggressive Behavior Specialist

-------------------

With 15 years of combined vet tech, kennel tech, dog daycare management experience, and a diploma in Canine Behavior Science and Technology with a Specialization in Aggressive Behavior, I offer my clients a comprehensive understanding of troublesome canine behaviors. My sole focus are the particularly difficult dogs – the fearful, compulsive, and aggressive. These are dogs that are at higher risk for self-harm, harm to others, abandonment, and often times behavioral euthanasia. These difficult dogs and their families have become my life mission. I strive to teach my clients how to better communicate with their dogs and mold them into the perfect companion animal where possible, and support families when they are obligated to make tough decisions due to dangerous behaviors. Pet parents always have options - let me help you understand the pros and cons to all of them and support you in your behavior journey.

As a professional member of the International Association of Canine Professionals as well as the Association of Animal Behavior Professionals, I screen and hand-pick each member of my team because I value a strong alliance of ethical, effective trainers with unmatched interpersonal skills. As a mentor for Animal Behavior College's externship program, we believe in molding and encouraging the next generation of dog trainers to strengthen the industry.

Tiana Greer

Trainer

-------------------

My love for animals led me down a career path that consisted of pet sitting, veterinary technician assistance, and kennel work at boarding facilities and the animal shelter. My work at the animal shelter inspired me to become an officer for the voiceless at Douglas County Animal Services Department. Through my animal control experience, I quickly realized the reason many animals end up in shelters was due to their lack of training. Through all my difficult cases, I gained the compassion, patience, and skills necessary to help both dogs and their families sustain a more feasible and peaceful way of life.

Envy, German Shepherd Dog

Assistant (Retired) and Mascot

-------------------

Envy often helps with all of our difficult cases. Dogs generally accept new concepts easier when taught by other dogs as opposed to learning solely from a human. As a trained personal protection dog, she sets the example for others to follow. Envy helps other dogs build confidence, trust, overcome their fears, and patiently presents a non-threatening presence while some work through aggression or reactivity issues. She also helps safely socialize my puppy pupils so they learn that meeting other dogs can be a fun and safe experience when both dogs are managed by experienced handlers. She is a direct reflection of how often we train together so she’s a testament to how important it is to be consistent. This program wouldn’t be nearly as successful without her.

Riku, Belgian Laekenois

Demonstration Dog, Show Dog, Sport Dog

-------------------

Riku is Envy's protege and sets the example for others to follow. In training lessons, Riku demonstrates how to execute tasks and serves as a neutral decoy for client dogs who are fearful or reactive to other dogs. This boy is an accomplished show dog, earning his Grand Champion, Dock Senior, Rally Advanced, Canine Good Citizen, Farm Dog Certification, BCAT, and Trick Dog Novice all before two years of age. Riku currently ranks #4 Laekenois in the US and has a bright future in AKC sporting events ahead of him.

Choosing Envy My Dog means choosing ethical, experienced, educated, and professional dog behavior experts whose life purpose is to serve and enhance the pet care community. Behavior modification is not a hobby or part-time job.

This is our way of life.

Taka, Dutch Shepherd Dog

Temperament Tester Dog, Show Dog, Sport Dog

-------------------

Taka came to us all the way from France! His silly and easygoing personality makes him well suited for temperament testing dogs of all types. He helps fearful dogs gain their confidence, builds solid social skills in young puppies, is a fun playmate for playful dogs, and is non-combative when meeting dogs who evaluate as not dog friendly. Taka is also an enthusiastic show dog, sport dog, and foundation dog for our Dutchie breeding program.

Saison, Belgian Laekenois

Personal Protection Dog

-------------------

Saison is Riku's younger brother. While they are related, they are not at all alike. Saison is a young model protection dog that teaches clients about safe practices, liability, and accountability. Because he is not friendly with new people, how we manage Saison matters greatly and our routine helps clients with bitey dogs understand their responsibility to their dog and the community. This spicy scruffy boy enjoys fetch, playing with his packmates, and chomping decoys in protection training exercises.

Ellie, Varys, Floyd - Chinese Crested Dogs

Small Temperament Tester Dogs, Show/Sport Dogs

-------------------

Just because they're little doesn't mean they can't compete in obedience competitions! When these hairy hairless guys aren't in the show ring collecting ribbons, they serve as temperament test dogs and neutral decoys for dogs that struggle with existing around little dogs. They are well mannered, confident, and help teach bigger dogs how to behave around little guys.

"Drop your leash"

All programs can be purchased as In-Home packages where we come to you and work with you one-on-one, or as Board and Train where your pet stays with us in a home environment. Every Board and Train comes with two In-Home sessions to ensure you learn how to maintain the progress we've made while your pet was with us. If you fear your dog may bite a person or if your dog has already bitten a person, they may only be eligible for In-Home sessions after they have completed a Board and Train. This is for the safety of all parties involved.

Puppy Foundations. Did you just acquire a pup under 6 months? Time to get him/her started off on the right foot! In puppy foundations, we cover crucial early development of social skills with both people and dogs, introduction to leash handling, introduction to basic obedience, crate training, and potty training. Your pup is always learning, so whether you continue to sign up for basic obedience or not, your puppy WILL be learning his left and right limits for the next year or so of his life. Once they reach maturity, everything you did or didn't do in puppy-hood shows itself in their ability to cope in new situations, interact with others, and follow commands. Let's make it count!

Basic Obedience. Do you have an older puppy or adult dog that could stand to learn a few things? Our basic obedience program addresses a custom list of behaviors that you feel you struggle with. This includes but is not limited to: pulling on leash, not coming when called, dashing through doorways, ignoring commands, inappropriate pottying in the house, destructive chewing, being rude towards guests (obnoxious friendly behaviors - aggression is not covered in this program), and excessive nuisance barking. We also address confidence building for shy and fearful dogs in this program so long as the behavior has not indicated threat of aggressive behavior or has actualized aggressive behavior.

Behavior Modification (Dog-Directed Aggression). Do you have a dog that goes bonkers on leash when it sees another dog? Are you afraid if he/she ever got the chance, he'd cause a fight? Do you have a dog that is threatening to or actually attacking other dogs in the household? Do you have multiple dogs in the household that equally participate in fights with each other? This program is for you! In this program, we address why there is conflict in the house and show you how to safely address the behavior and how to maintain the peace long after the program is over.

Behavior Modification (Human-Directed Aggression). Do you have a dog that charges at, lunges at, threatens to bite, or has actually bitten a person? Regardless the reason, this is a higher risk behavior that requires extreme care. This includes dogs that bite their owners over food or a toy, gets turned away at most groomers due to biting, charge and threaten house guests, and lunge at strangers walking by when out on leash. Don't make excuses for why you feel your dog is justified in his/her actions. If you fear you have no control over this behavior, seek professional help ASAP. This type of behavior can cause serious damage to others, subject you to animal control fines, subject you to lawsuits, or force you to make the tough decision to euthanize. It is NOT recommended that you try to "fix it yourself" through experimenting with things you learned from TV shows, Youtube videos, advice on the internet, your friend who pet sits sometimes, etc. Get help before it's too late - this is our specialty - let's talk about your options and/or get to work.
